W. A. Caldwell Dead

Well Known Pioneer Passed Away Last Night.

W. A. Caldwell, an Idaho pioneer who established his home in the Lewiston country nearly half a century ago, died at 8 o'clock last night at the family residence, six miles above Lapwai. He had been in feeble health for many months and so relatives were prepared for the ending.

Mr. Caldwell located on the Lapwai creek and for many years was known as one of the leading stockmen of the inland northwest. For a period the family lived in Lewiston, having acquired residence property here, which they still own. He is survived by a wife and four children, the latter being William Caldwell, Jr., Sol Caldwell, Fred Caldwell and Mose Caldwell. The two former are now in Canada and messages were sent to them last night. The funeral arrangements will await their arrival.
