Lewiston Morning Tribune Wednesday, September 25, 1907 Mrs. Barton Dead. Estimable Pioneer Lady Passed Away Yesterday. Yesterday morning at 7:30 o'clock Mrs. Mary Barton, an esteemed pioneer lady of Lewiston, passed away at her home on C street as the result of an attack of heart disease. Mrs. Barton had been in failing health for some weeks, but her sudden demise came as a great shock to the relatives and friends. Announcement relative to the date of the funeral will be made later. The deceased was born at Killarney, Ireland, and emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, where she was united in marriage to Patrick H. Barton, whom she survives by only six months. From Canada the family moved to Indiana and later to San Diego, California. In 1883, Mr. Barton, wife and children came to Lewiston and have since resided here. The deceased was a Christian lady who attracted to her the friendship and esteem of all those who knew her. She is survived by three children - Mrs. James Conley and Miss Mattie Barton, of this city, and Thomas D. Barton, merchant at Lapwai. Mr. Barton was in the reservation country when he received the sad news of his mothers death and he reached the city last night. |
