Lapwai, Jan. 9. - Charles A. Wing, who had served Lapwai as mayor, member of the council and clerk of the school board, passed away at the family home in Lapwai at 6:30 o'clock last night of pneumonia. He had been ill but a few days.

In Mr. Wing's death Nez Perce county loses another of its pioneer citizens. Born in Michigan December 7, 1871, with his parents he moved to the Willamette valley of Oregon, and in 1881 the family came to Idaho, locating first in Lewiston. Mr. Wing's father was the first probate judge of Nez Perce county, this being in territorial days. In 1896 Mr. Wing married Miss Tillie Bradsinge and in the same year he homesteaded a place near Sweetwater, residing there until eight years ago when the family came to Lapwai to live. He was a prominent farmer while living at Sweetwater. Recently he has been caretaker of the high school in Lapwai.

He leaves a widow, one son, Ernest Wing, and a daughter, Esther Wing, both living at home, and a sister and brother in Oregon.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Lapwai Presbyterian church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock by the Rev. J. A. Ferris. Interment will be in Normal Hill cemetery in Lewiston, with the Brower-Wann company having charge of arrangements.
