Chinese Suicide

Ah Chee Wah Fired Bullet in Breast.

A Well-Known Cook

He Recently Broke Arm and for Some Time Has Been in a Despondent Mood.

Ah Chee Wah, Chinese, cook in Lewiston for the past 25 or 30 years, ended his life yesterday afternoon about 4 o'clock by shooting himself through the breast. Wah sustained an injury to his arm some time ago that prevented his working and for some time he had been despondent. The suicide occurred in his room in the Chinese store building on Sixth street, between C and D streets.

Wah in past years was employed in the kitchens of the Bollinger and Raymond hotels, but in recent years had worked in the Chinese restaurants. He was about 55 years of age and enjoyed the very high regard of his fellow countrymen.

The funeral arrangements were not made last night but his friends expressed the view that the remains would probably be laid to rest today.
