Mary Jane Talbott Taken; Area Pioneer

Mrs. Mary Jane Talbott, 79, resident of central Idaho for the last 41 years, died at 4:15 a.m. yesterday at the home of her son, Wayne Talbott, Lapwai. Mr. Talbott is chairman of the board of county commissioners.

Mrs. Talbott was born June 1, 1866, in Barbor county, W. Va., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Poling. Her marriage to Mr. Talbott took place at Phillipi, W. V., Feb. 7, 18_4. In 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Talbott and children came to Idaho, locating on a farm in the Potlatch ridge area near Leland. In 1913 the family moved to Lewiston where Mrs. Talbott continued her residence at 1122 Eleventh avenue. Her husband, the late Francis M. Talbott, was engaged in the real estate business in Lewiston for many years. He died in February of 1928.

Mrs. Talbott's death resulted from a heart attack after a four-month illness. She was treated at a Lewiston hospital for several weeks during the summer and her condition showed signs of improvement. She then went to her son't home to convalesce. Mrs. Talbott was communicant of the Baptist church.

Survivors include three daughters and four sons; Mrs. Beulah Bernett, San Francisco; Mrs. Gladys Rogers, Los Angeles; Mr. Lou Wessels, Stanley Talbott, both of Spokane; Boyd Talbott, Lapwai; Harry Talbott, Lewiston; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Minnie Sinsel, Mrs. Sadie Smith and Luther Poling, all of Phillipi; Mrs. William Barnes, Cumberland, Md.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body is at Brower-Wann chapel with funeral arrangements pending.

Mrs. Mary Jane Talbott

Lewiston, Idaho, Dec. 3 (Special) - Mrs. Mary Jane Talbott died Saturday morning at the home of her son, Wayne Talbott, Lapwai. She was born in West Virginia on June 1, 1866, and had lived in this area since 1913. She was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by four sons, Wayne, Lapwai; Stanley, Spokane; Boyd, Bellingham, and Harry of Lewiston; three daughters, Mrs. Lou Wessels, Spokane; Mrs. Beulah Bernett, San Francisco, and Mrs. Gladys Rogers, Los Angeles; three sisters, one brother, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Brower-Wann chapel with the Rev. Merrill officiating. Burial will be in Normal Hill cemetery.
