Mrs. Retta Puckett, Widow Of Farmer, Succumbs At 80

Mrs. Retta Ann Puckett, 80, widow of a retired farmer and resident of Clarkston since 1919, died of a heart ailment at 11:59 p.m. Saturday at St. Josephs Hospital. She entered the hospital Thursday and had been in failing health four years.

She was born Oct. 28, 1886, at Lexington, Ky., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Bryant. In 1887 she moved with her parents to Kansas and came to Orofino in 1900. She was married to Marvin V. Puckett at Lewiston Dec. 25, 1903. They farmed at Nez Perce until 1919, when they moved to Clarkston. He died Dec. 7, 1939.

She was past president and a member of the Kensington Club for 2_ years, and was an avid gardener. She lived at 538 Riverview Blvd.

Survivors include a son, Lewie Puckett of Pomeroy; three daughters, Mrs. C. W. (Ethel) Palmer of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Henry (Edith) Torsen of Clarkston and Mrs. George R. (Hazel) Thiessen of Lewiston; three brothers, D. H. Bryant of Bend, Ore., Reece Bryant of Modesto, Calif., and Charles Bryant of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Normal Hill Cemetery.
