Pioneer Lady Dead.
Mrs. George Montgomery Passed Away Yesterday Morning.
The death of Mrs. George Montgomery, who has been ill with cancer, occurred at four o'clock yesterday morning at the St. Joseph hospital. The funeral will be held tomorrow, but the definite hour has not yet been decided upon by relatives.
The deceased is survived by Mr. Montgomery, who has been residing at his homestead in the Pierce section; by her son, Wilbur Wardwell, and by four brothers, Robert, Samuel, Harvey and Steve Newell. Robert Newell is a resident of the city, but the other brothers reside at distant points and will be unable to reach here for the funeral.
Mrs. Montgomery was a pioneer of Lewiston, having resided here since 1874. She was born at Champouge, Oregon, in 1859, being the daughter of Dr. Robert Newell, one of the most prominent of the early northwest pioneers.
