Pioneer Idaho Resident Succumbs in Lewiston

Lewiston, Idaho, March 27. - James A. Monroe, 81, pioneer north central Idaho farmer, died yesterday, less than a month after the death of his wife.

They were parents of State Representative James Monroe of Culdesac, Lee Monroe of Culdesac and Donald Monroe of Lewiston.

Mr. Monroe was born at Fayetteville, Ark., January 25, 1878. He came to Forrest, Idaho, in 1898, and to Culdesac in 1912. He had lived in Lewiston since 1957.

He married Mattie Sue Carson January 28, 1908, at Limestone, Tenn. She died here March 1.

Services for Mr. Monroe will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in the Brower-Wann chapel with the Rev. Edwin Ogle officiating. Burial will be in Normal Hill Cemetery.
