Fay S. Bachus Dead At 80

Gifford - Fay S. Bachus, 80, an early-day stage driver between Lenore and Reubens, died Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 at his home after suffering a stroke. He had lived at Gifford since 1900.

Mr. Bachus was born Sept. 16, 1876, at Charlotte, Mich., and in 1890 moved to Albion, Wash. He lived there until taking up a homestead near Gifford.

He drove the stage route 20 years.

Mr. Bachus married Millie Driskill at Moscow in 1896. They were divorced in 1914. He married Mrs. Lillie Hobson at Culdesac, Sept. 27,1945, at the home of the late Rev. William Kole.

He is survived by his wife, at home, eight step-daughters, Mrs. Charles Weinmann of Lewiston Orchards, Mrs. John Uhlenkott of Grangeville, Mrs. Fern King of Buckley, Wash., Mrs. Carl Frank, Sandpoint, Mrs. George Martindale of Tacoma, Mrs. Kathleen Riplinger of Spokane, Grace Hobson of Buckley and Ruby Hobson of Kolar, India, where she is a missionary; and two step-sons, Buford Hobson and Robert Hobson of Fairbanks, Alaska.

The body is at the Brower-Wann Funeral Home at Lewiston. Funeral arrangements are undecided.
